The civil parish has a population of about 2,145 people (2021census data) and covers an area of about 3.51 square kilometres. The region is best known for its agricultural heritage, and the part it played during World War II as the site of a Royal Ordnance facility at Cold Meece and as the central location for the United States Air Force which was based in Yarnfield. Despite its small size, Yarnfield and Cold Meece is a vibrant community, with a range of local businesses and community groups.
